216. How To Be Awesome At Your Morning Mantra
Lindsay has recently adapted a morning mantra that has been so great for her in so many ways.
How bad you want it?
Because that’s really what it comes down to. Whatever it is that you want to accomplish… How bad you want it are you willing to put in the hours and hours it takes to get good at something or accomplish the hard goal? Are you willing to get super uncomfortable and push through even when you want to quit?
Lindsay talks about in the past… she’s tricked herself into thinking she didn’t know what the next step was to accomplish certain goals… when really she knew what needed to be done, she just wasn’t all-in-committed to it.
It all starts with the morning mantra that carries us through the day.
One question that you answer each morning… that helps you make the best decisions throughout the day.
It’s filtering out any distractions or negative thoughts for thinking about the past in the ways that don’t serve me… It’s about waking up with a clear and refreshed mind… Which helps me stay more focused throughout the day and able to self correct quickly when I fall into a habit I don’t want to like negative self talk or mindlessly scrolling.
So the question is… how bad do you actually want it?
Write out your 3 priorities for the day and stay focused on them.
Then… commit and burn the boat!
Freedom doesn’t equal freedom… discipline equals freedom
Mark Twain once said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.”
How bad you want it?
Lose weight - when you reach for calorie surplus
Gain muscle - get out of bed and work out when you want to sleep in
Make a certain amount of sales - put in the hours it takes to get good
Make more money - push through the pain
Wake up early - if you need more time to accomplish goals
Let go of the past - fight the urge to sink into it
Health - make the appointments, take the supplements
Conflict resolution - address the issues weighing heavily on you
Increase your willpower - embrace discomfort
Get rid of stress - hug the monster! Tackle it head on - you feel so much better
Have a great group of friends - go out at night even when you want to stay on the couch
Lindsay explains… When I’m not sure what I should do for the next hour or whatever it is I ask myself… What would the person do if it is achieving what I want to achieve.
And ask… how bad do you actually want it?
It’s about having a clear focus of what’s the most important to you and prioritizing the things you’re working to make happen.
And it’s just as much about what I want as it is what I don’t want. It’s filtering out any distractions or negative thoughts for thinking about the past in the ways that don’t serve me… It’s about waking up with a clear and refreshed mind… Which helps you stay more focused throughout the day and able to self correct quickly when you fall into a habit you don’t want to like negative self talk or mindlessly scrolling.
And then… knowing your priorities and focus and the ways you're going to challenge myself for that day… And when you start to question it or it gets more than uncomfortable… the most powerful question you can ask yourself. How bad do you want it?
CHEERS friends! To going after what you really want and doing what it takes to get it.
